Video Games and Consoles / Sony PlayStation 4
« On: February 21, 2013, 01:22:45 AM »
The Playstation 4 was just officially announced at the Sony Press Meeting in New York.

They showcased the specs it'll have, some of the features and the design of the controller.

The Playstation 4 will feature an 8-core x86 CPU and 8 GB of GDDR5 RAM.

The console will also feature a secondary chip for other tasks such as preserving your game session for resuming at a later period after being put into sleep mode.

The Dual Shock 4 controller will feature a touchpad, and it'll also feature a "share" button that will enable players to save screenshots or videos and upload them seamlessly, while playing, the controller also features a headphone jack and a sensor bar to easily identify players.

The Playstation Network will be enhanced to enable previewing of titles before you've even purchased them, and it'll also enable playing of games before they're finished, and only after a certain amount of the data has been completed.

Remote Play that was present between the PS3 and PSP has returned between the PS4 and PSVita. Allowing players to take their session from the TV Screen and onto the go with the Vita. It is planned to enable all PS4 games to use this functionality, not just a select few like the PS3/PSP did.

Social interaction plays a big part on the network. You can share screenshots, videos, and even your current game session as you play allowing friends to comment in real time, and if you get stuck on a hard enemy, or need help, you can ask them to simply take over your session for you instead.

With Playstation Cloud, the plan is to enable streaming of PS1, PS2 and PS3 games streamed via the cloud, but wouldn't be available from launch of the PS4.

Slated for a Holiday 2013 launch. Form factor, and price point haven't been revealed yet. Those will likely come at E3.

Two friends from University join forces to take on Vechs's Super Hostile 10: Spellbound Caves. We have agreed to play Minecraft under the moniker of "Facilitated Learning" as a reference to a tutors quote that they're not there to teach, but to "facilitate our learning"

Super Hostile maps are a series of maps that are designed to be challenging and enemy combat puzzles to complete a victory monument of sixteen wool blocks found in Fleece Boxes, and three ore blocks (iron, gold and diamond).

This is my perspective. Unlike Chireiden I have watched a few Lets Plays of Spellbound Caves, but they were never in depth, so there's only one or two secrets that I remember are present.

This will be my perspective.

PART ONE - ENDERMEN AND POTATOCEPTION

If I had to pick a favourite line from this episode it would be "I'm getting Zombie Meat like a boss, but I'm also eating it like a pig"

General Off Topic / SMF 2.1 preview
« On: September 03, 2012, 08:36:19 AM »
The devs have released a preview of the next version of SMF, 2.1.

http://garygadsdon.com/smf21

There's some new features in there such as a new WYSIWYG editor, drafts and a few other things, the main thing though is a new default theme.

For more info: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=485590

And trust me, you don't want to see what happens when you try to install a 2.0 theme on 2.1, I've already seen how buggy that is. :P

Video Games and Consoles / Broken Sword 5: The Serpents Curse
« On: August 29, 2012, 09:27:24 PM »
Revolution Software has started a Kickstarter project for Broken Sword 5: The Serpents Curse.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/165500047/broken-sword-the-serpents-curse-adventure

It'd be a 2D point and click game similar to that of the first two Broken Sword games. The voice actors for George and Nico reprise their roles from the Directors Cut of the first game.

I have plans to try and contribute the Gold Membership as soon as my student loan comes through. Broken Sword, is probably one of the only games I would willingly hand over money to before it's released. And having my name as a donator within said game would be nice.

This has gotten me to want to play all five current games in order, including 2.5 which was a fangame and record the footage. But I can't say that I'm too great at playing Broken Sword 3 and 4 like I am with the first two..

It's supposedly going to be released on December 3 in the UK.

I'm not really one to give a shit about the US, but that'd be December 4.

From "Earthworm Jim" an old TV show and video game series from the mid-ninties.

Jim is actually voiced by Dan Castellaneta, who voices Homer. :P

JIM: Oh, so it was my Evil Twin all along! Ow! I should've known, super heroes and evil twins go together like Peanut Butter, and...... Evil Peanut Butter!

This is from an old UK Milky Way commercial from 1989.

The Red Car and The Blue Car had a race
all Red wants to do was stuff his face
he eats everything he sees
from trucks to prickly trees
but smart old blue he took the Milky Way
he's looking for chocolate treats
fluffy and light
because he knows he wont spoil his appetite
Oh no! The bridge is gone!
Old red can't carry on

But smart old blue took the Milky Way!

This topic is so I can post news and stuff about the forum.

For now, the only news I have is that I renewed MultiTalk2.com. Even though it's for redirects, this Bongo forum is too new, so some people may not be aware of it yet, and I really should send a newsletter out to the MT2 users.

In 2013, that's when I'll let it expire properly.

For me, in Final Fantasy XIII-2, I'm collecting the fragments, which are effects of the paradox, and you've got to do specific tasks to get them. In the game there's 160, I currently have 159. :P The last one involves collecting a 100% complete bestiary. Just because some guy likes to gloat that his bestiary is awesome.

Both playable characters are maxed out in levels. So if I need to train... I can't. :P

Others / Spongebob Squarepants #9 coming June
« On: March 18, 2012, 08:36:29 AM »

It's a seaworthy summer vacation issue. In "Calls in the Wild," SpongeBob and Patrick must protect a troupe of young campers from the strange creatures that lurk in the woods like that grouchy bald one who plays the clarinet! In "Heroes at the Beach," Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy attempt to have a relaxing day at the beach. But why must there be so much eeeevil to get in their way? Plus, Patrick forgets his pants, SpongeBob gets acne, and we learn why big socks = big fun! All this and a surreal painted pin-up by SpongeBob creator Stephen Hillenburg.
